If you fly Southwest, the Premier’s Companion Pass progress and anniversary points reward loyalty, worth $149 if you’ll use them.
If you fly American, the AA Platinum is a cheaper, effective co-brand, the free checked bag can cover the fee on one trip, and the bonus is a big chunk of a flight. Pick the airline you actually fly, and note the AA card’s first-year fee is often waived.
