Credit card transfer partners cheat sheet

The short answer: Find your airline or hotel down the left, then read across to see which of the seven transferable currencies reach it, at what ratio, and how long the transfer takes. Green beats 1:1, amber is worse than 1:1, and a dot means it is not a partner. These are standing base ratios; when a cell has a live, limited-time transfer bonus, it is highlighted in blue with the base ratio struck through, the boosted ratio shown, and the bonus end date.

Transferable points are the most valuable kind of credit card reward, because you can move them to airline and hotel loyalty programs where a single point often unlocks far more than a cent of value. This cheat sheet maps every transfer partner of the seven major programs, so you can see at a glance which currency reaches the airline or hotel you want, at what ratio, and how fast the points arrive.

Find the seat before you transfer

A great transfer ratio is worthless if the award seat isn't there, and points don't come back once you move them. Before you transfer anything, check live award availability across every one of these programs at once with seats.aero. It searches partner award space in a single place, so you can see which of your transfer options actually has the flight you want, at the lowest mileage price, and then transfer only to that program. It's the fastest way to turn a good ratio on this chart into a real redemption, and it's how I decide where my points should land.

See exactly what a flight award costs

Stop guessing at point values. Look up the real mileage price and live seat availability for a specific flight before you transfer.

* World of Hyatt is 1:1 on the Sapphire Reserve and Ink Reserve, but 4:3 on the Sapphire Preferred and Ink Preferred. Citi ratios shown are for its premium cards (Strata Premier and Strata Elite); no-annual-fee cards transfer at lower ratios. Transfer times are typical, not guaranteed.

Go deeper with transfer partners by bank, which bank points hold the best value, and the best transferable-points cards.

Notable exclusives

Some programs are the only door to a partner, which is what makes them worth holding.

United MileagePlus: Chase and Bilt only
American Airlines AAdvantage: Citi only
Delta SkyMiles: Amex only
Alaska / Atmos Rewards: Bilt only
ANA Mileage Club: Amex only
World of Hyatt: Chase and Bilt only

What changed in 2026
  • Chase moved World of Hyatt to 4:3 on the Sapphire Preferred and Ink Business Preferred. The Sapphire Reserve and Ink Reserve keep 1:1.
  • Amex ended Etihad Guest transfers on June 30, 2026.
  • Capital One devalued Emirates Skywards to 2:1.5 in January 2026.
  • Citi cut its hotel ratios on April 19, 2026: Choice fell from 1:2 to 1:1.5 and I Prefer from 1:4 to 1:2.
  • New partners were added: Chase and Bilt both added Wyndham, Bilt added I Prefer, and Wells Fargo added JetBlue, Cathay, and Wyndham.
  • Amex to Aeromexico at 1:1.6 is the single most favorable standing airline ratio across all six programs.

Ratios are standing base values verified August 2026. Any current time-limited transfer bonus is highlighted in blue on the chart above, showing the boosted ratio and its end date; these bonuses come and go, so a partner with no highlight simply has no live bonus right now. Once you move points to an airline or hotel they cannot come back, so confirm award space before you transfer.

Frequently asked questions

What are credit card transfer partners?

Transfer partners are the airline and hotel loyalty programs you can move transferable credit card points to, usually at a 1:1 ratio. Because a single mile or point can be worth well over a cent on the right award, transferring is how you get the most value out of programs like Chase Ultimate Rewards and Amex Membership Rewards.

Which credit card has the best transfer partners?

It depends on your goals. American Express has the deepest airline list plus exclusive ANA and Delta. Chase owns the crown-jewel World of Hyatt. Bilt has the broadest mix and is the only one with Alaska. Citi is the only one that reaches American AAdvantage. There is no single winner, which is why many people hold more than one.

Can you transfer points between different credit cards?

Generally no. You cannot move points from one bank to another, only to that bank's airline and hotel partners. You can, however, pool points within a family, such as combining Chase points across your own cards or moving Amex points between your accounts.

How long do credit card point transfers take?

Many are instant, including most Chase, Capital One, Citi, and Bilt transfers. American Express usually takes a day or two, and a few partners take longer. The time shown in each cell of the chart is that specific partner's typical speed.

Are transfer ratios always 1:1?

Most are, but not all. A few beat 1:1, like Amex to Aeromexico at 1:1.6 and Wells Fargo to Wyndham at 1:2, while some are worse than 1:1. Programs also run frequent transfer bonuses that temporarily improve the standing ratios, so always check before you move points.

Should you transfer points before booking an award?

No. Transfers are one-way and cannot be reversed, so never move points speculatively. Confirm the exact award seat is available first, then transfer only the points you need to book it.

Which transfer partner gives the best value?

The biggest value usually comes from premium-cabin flights and top-tier hotels: World of Hyatt nights, ANA or Virgin Atlantic first class, and international business class. These are where a point can be worth several cents, far more than cashing out at one cent.
