Pros and cons

The welcome bonus

The welcome bonus is solid: 50,000 Avios after $5,000 in 90 days, a good haul, though the higher spending requirement means you need real spending to unlock it.

Is it worth the annual fee?

The $499 fee is premium and needs the perks and heavy Avios use to justify it, which only makes sense for a dedicated Qatar collector. For most people, the cheaper Signature card or flexible-points transfers make more sense.
