The short answer: Chase lets you combine Ultimate Rewards from your no-fee Freedom and Ink cards onto a Sapphire or Ink Preferred, which unlocks transfers to partners. You can also share points with one household member.
Why you combine points
The no-fee Chase cards like Freedom Flex and Freedom Unlimited earn Ultimate Rewards cheaply but cannot transfer to partners on their own. Moving those points onto a card that can transfer, a Sapphire Preferred, Sapphire Reserve, or Ink Business Preferred, is what unlocks their full value.
How to do it
Log in at chase.com or the Ultimate Rewards portal, choose Combine Points, and move points from the earner card to your hub card. It is instant and free. Once pooled on the hub, you can transfer to partners like United and Hyatt at a 1 to 1 ratio.
Sharing with others
Chase lets you move points to one other person, such as a spouse or household member, which is useful for pooling toward a redemption. Keep points on the hub card until you are ready to transfer, since transfers out to partners cannot be reversed.
